Is your home your castle? Is your pet a cherished member of your family? I can relate….as a former home and pet owner I understand the deep attachments to both and will honor your wishes in caring for your home and pet.
Who am I? I grew up in a small, rural town with 7 siblings and lots of pets: dogs, cats, chickens, turtles, rabbits and an occasional injured bird or chipmunk. I learned my caregiving skills from these childhood experiences, caring for family, pets, and a garden. I’m a good steward of the earth by reducing, recycling & reusing. I’m healthy, active, vegetarian, non-smoker and am fully vaccinated. I practice yoga daily, bike, kayak, walk/hike and ski. Although I love to travel and experience new lifestyles, cultures and destinations, I like slow travel and enjoy spending time curled up with a pet reading a good book.
I was a high school teacher so I’m organized, a planner and a problem solver. I took groups of students abroad and have experience in dealing with unplanned issues and finding solutions to problems. I kept the parents informed of what their child did on a daily basis by taking pictures and sending updates. I also owned specialty sporting goods stores, so I am adept at managing and relating to people. I also founded and operated several travel agencies, which is where I caught the "travel bug". I’ve traveled to 36 countries throughout Europe, Caribbean Islands, Central & South America, Mexico and Canada.
What can I do for your home? I’ve been a homeowner for decades and have renovated several of my properties. Although I’m certainly not an expert, I can deal with regular maintenance issues or know when to call in professional help. I keep an ultra clean home space and will do the same in your home. I’ve had gardens and love plants and will give those parts of your home the care and attention they need. I'm very quiet, respectful and friendly so your neighbors will not have any complaints about me. I'll keep your home secure by being there every night.
What can I do for your pets? I deeply care for animals and will give your pet the loving attention it deserves. I am diligent about following your pet's routines for feeding, exercising, playing, grooming and taking any medications. Young or old, big or small, healthy or not, I’ve cared for a wide variety of pets: A 17 year old Maine Coon cat needed medication several times a day. An active puppy needed lots of play time and attention. A rescue dog needed patience and gentle nurturing care to help it trust and accept human interactions. Several feral cats needed feeding and attention so that they could be captured and taken to a vet for neutering/spaying.
I walk daily, so if your pet needs exercise I’m ready to do that. If your pet loves to play, I enjoy getting on the floor and joining in the fun and games. I take the responsibility of giving medications seriously and will diligently monitor your pet’s health. I love to take pictures and will keep you updated on how well your pet is adjusting.
Why I want to house/pet sit. I’m retired, single and recently sold my home. I have no children and no longer have any pets. Both my parents (for whom I was caregiver for 5 years) are gone now so I have the means and time to nourish my desire to explore the world. I thoroughly enjoy living in new places and experiencing different cultures but most of all my passion is meeting and getting to know my "new neighbors."
